Samburu

Samburu National Reserve is a rugged, semi-desert park located in northern Kenya's Rift Valley Province. The Ewaso Nyiro River, which flows through the reserve, is the lifeline that attracts wildlife from the surrounding arid landscapes. Samburu is famous for its unique "Samburu Special Five" - wildlife species found only in this northern region: the Grevy's zebra (with narrow stripes and large ears), Somali ostrich (with distinctive blue-grey neck), reticulated giraffe (with a striking geometric coat pattern), gerenuk (the giraffe-necked antelope that stands on hind legs to browse), and the Beisa oryx. The reserve offers a more intimate and less crowded safari experience compared to southern parks, with dramatic landscapes of rugged hills, riverine forests, and open savannah.
