About Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest mountain at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) and the world's tallest free-standing mountain. This dormant volcano is one of the Seven Summits and a bucket-list challenge for trekkers from around the world. The mountain features five distinct ecological zones: cultivated lower slopes, rainforest, heath and moorland, alpine desert, and arctic summit. This means climbers experience dramatic changes in landscape and climate during their ascent. Kilimanjaro is a "walk-up" mountain - no technical climbing skills are required, making it accessible to determined hikers. There are several routes to the summit, with Marangu, Machame, and Lemosho being the most popular.
